CMHA Algoma welcomes Lisa Case as new CEO
(Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., Feb. 25, 2025) – The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), Algoma Branch is thrilled to announce the appointment of Lisa Case as its new CEO, effective Feb. 3, 2025.
“Following an extensive executive search, the CMHA Algoma board of directors is confident that under Lisa’s leadership, the organization will continue its next phase of growth and enhance its impact on our community,” said CMHA Algoma board chair Charlene Wilson. “Lisa’s leadership and collaboration, coupled with her dedication to creating meaningful change in the lives of those facing mental health and addiction challenges, make her an ideal choice for CMHA Algoma.”
Case joins CMHA Algoma with a rich background in the mental health and addictions sector, providing direct care and leadership support. Most recently, she served as clinical director, mental health and addictions program, at Sault Area Hospital.
As a resident of the Algoma District, Case is a strong advocate for mental health and addiction services and has a track record of working closely with community, regional and provincial partners to further develop knowledge, skills and relationships to ensure advancements in mental health and addictions care.
“I look forward to continuing the success of the current strategic plan and ultimately setting the course for CMHA Algoma’s next chapter,” said Case. “It’s an honour to be tasked with moving this organization forward and providing the best possible mental health and addictions care for our region.”
Lisa holds a master’s degree in social work, general perspective, and has been a registered member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers since 2002. She has completed specialized training including Indigenous cultural safety, just culture, change and risk management, mental health and law.
Lisa will work closely with Annette Katajamaki, current CEO, who will be retiring Feb. 28. The board extends its sincerest appreciation to Annette Katajamaki for her 40 years with the agency, originating with a student placement. A communication about Katajamaki’s retirement will be issued at a later date.
